Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Sri Lanka and Mali
Upon the singing of Joint Communiqué by H.E. Mr. Palitha T.B. Kohona, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the United Nations and H.E. Mr. Oumar Daou, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Mali to the United Nations on 19th January 2012 at New York, the Government of Sri Lanka and the Government of Mali decided to establish DPL relations between the two countries with effect from 19th January 2012.
While the Ambassador for Mali based in New Delhi would be concurrently accredited to Sri Lanka, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka based in Cairo would be concurrently accredited to Mali.
The establishment of diplomatic ties between Sri Lanka and Mali would enhance the existing friendly relations and cooperation in the political, socio-economic and cultural fields for the mutual benefit of the two peoples.
