Increasing Job Opportunities for Sri Lankans in Israel.
The Sri Lanka Embassy organised a meeting with 40 licensed recruitment Agents in Israel at the premises of the Embassy this afternoon in order to explore possibilities to enhance job opportunities for Sri Lankans in Israel.
While Major General Jagath Alwis/ Deputy Ambassador welcomed the participants to the meeting, H.E. Mr. Sarath Wijesinghe led the discussion to educate the Job Agents on the comparative advantage of recruiting Sri Lankans over that of other nationals since Sri Lankans are a highly literate, energetic and skilled workforce whose trainability is among the best in the world.
The Ambassador stated that he was very pleased with the ongoing discussions with the relevant Israeli authorities in order to obtain access into the construction sector for Sri Lankans. The Job Agents remarked that Israeli employers were satisfied with the Sri Lankans working in Israel and look forward to seeing more Sri Lankans entering the workforce.
The participants were all offered an opportunity to sample traditional Sri Lankan refreshments and complimentary Ceylon tea packs were given to all. H.E. the Ambassador made a request for the attendees to visit the Sri Lanka pavilion at the upcoming 19th International Tourism Fair scheduled for 5th to 6th February 2013 in Tel Aviv.
The event was organised by the Embassy and supported by the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment(SLBFE).
